Perfect Fake Tan on Holiday

Have you every stepped off the plane looking bronzed and glowing, only to look distinctly paler about four days into your holiday?

In the Salon our favourite product is Fake Bake, although there are many other good brands out there. It doesn’t seem to wear off as patchy as some other brands and lasts longer in the skin.

However any fake tan will wear off quickly if you are constantly in and out of water. Chlorine bleaches the skin and salt water draws the colour out of the skin, not to mention sand which is a natural exfoliant.

So what can you do to prolong the life of your tan? I personally recommend applying a product such as St Tropez Everyday on top of your tan. It is colourless so you can wear it in the daytime, if not swimming, or at night. It doesn’t smell too bad either! You can just apply it where the tan is wearing off, possibly the legs or arms. If you use a fairly light shade, say fair to medium, you really can’t go wrong. It will smooth out any patchiness and make you look once more as if you have just arrived!

Lip Plumping Treatments

The lips commonly become thinner and more lined as women age. The only treatments I have heard of for plumping up the lips are either injections with a filler or the Nora Bode Lip Plumping Treatment, which uses shots of oxygen to push lip plumping serums into the deepest layers, giving a surprisingly great effect.

There are many lip creams available for plumping up the lips which sting at first and then swell the lips, kind of like an allergic reaction. Lip Venom is reputed to be one of the best.

However, for a lip enhancing cream without the stinging, out of all the ones we sell, the Nora Bode Beauty-Tox Lip Cream is excellent and results last for ages! Also you can see visible results from the first use.

Lines and Wrinkles?

All the major salon ranges have facials which claim to soften lines and wrinkles, which is fine because they do slightly plump out the skin and make it look smoother.

However to see a really visible difference I recommend either Botox (which really is the only option if you have, say, really deep forehead lines) or oxygen treatments. I use the Nora Bode Oxyjet Machine in the salon which, to cut a long story short, involves pushing anti ageing serums into the deepest layers of the skin (unlike a cream which works from the top of the skin down).

We recommend a course of five treatments and the results takes 30 days to build up in the skin. Basically, the treatments can reduce the depth of wrinkles by up to 50% and unlike Botox, which freezes expression, the Oxyjet makes it harder to make the bad expression which has caused the lines in the first place. For instance it becomes more difficult to frown, but not impossible!

Nora Bode Oxyjet Set Travel KitNora Bode also do the Oxyjet Travel Kit which you can use at home to supplement salon results.

Dark Circles, Sagging and Puffiness under the eyes?

In my experience as a beauty therapist the best remedies for eyes that look permanently tired are eye treatments containing pressure point massage and drainage to eliminate toxins that accumulate, through the tiny lymph nodes. This helps reduce puffiness and dark circles.

Decleor Hydra Floral Eye and Lip MaskAt the end of any eye treatment I always use Decleor’s fantastic Hydra Floral Eye And Lip Mask which tingles a bit but is excellent for making the under eye area appear firmer and less puffy.

Where there is sagging due to loss of muscle tone, Non Surgical Facelifting treatments, such as CACI, will help to lift and tighten the entire eye area.

Sagging Facial Muscles?

The best salon treatment for lifting and firming sagging facial muscles?

In one word, CACI!

CACI is the original and most widely heard of Non Surgical Facelift. It uses a microcurrent, which is virtually painless, to lift and tone sagging jawlines, sunken cheekbones, round the eyes and on the forehead. It is fantastic!

There are many machines on the market which do much the same thing as CACI and the results are fab. You have to have a course of 10 treatments to see a difference and if you start young enough it can actually help to prevent wrinkles as the skin is less likely to sag into creases. I also recommend to my clients, Dermalogica’s Multivitamin products to keep the skin looking young and beautiful.
